"The Scotsman was right across the street from the train station making it easy for two with women with a lot of luggage. The hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious. The Howard, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member
5.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (139)
"The hotel was supposed to be in a central location but it was 12 minutes walk to the shops and then a further 12 minutes walk to the bars, so it was too much effort to go out for a beer and something to eat on Saturday night. In cold weather conditions, you really needed to take a taxi everywhere. It was deadly quiet too with no atmosphere. In fact, it was more akin to a gentleman's club, rather than a hotel. "Amazing stay, fabulous staff. We were staying to celebrate my friends birthday and were lucky enough to get a complimentary upgrade, the room was stunning, we couldn’t have hoped for better. Lots of nice touches including a beautifully presented plate of choc covered strawberries, complementary Prosecco and a birthday banner. It’s been a long time since I’ve received such exemplary service at a hotel. I can’t wait to have an opportunity to stay again. "

4.0 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (498)
"This is very nice hotel, conveniently located a couple of blocks from George St and the so-called New Town. Rooms are in top condition, clean, my room had a jacuzzi. Very nice taste in decoration. Only two observations: the volume of water in the shower was really low and variable, as well as the temp (in a moment you passed from a trickle of cool water to a normal flow of very hot water. Also, the bed could have been softer. "
