This is an incredibly special and beautiful hotel to stay in Manchester, central and with big spacious rooms. The building is magical and the dining/breakfast/bar space is very beautiful. We were very well treated and felt at home here. The only issue I would point out is that the breakfast should be included in the price, as is the norm in Europe.

Such a beautiful and hospitable hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here and they were very accommodating. Also loved their bath products and the lobby smells amazing! Only wish we weren’t travelling overseas so I could have further enjoyed the beautiful adjoining flower shop.

I probably should have done my homework on this hotel before booking my stay. I had to learn the hard way that it’s known to be one of the top most haunted places in Manchester. Don’t get me wrong, the building is beautiful, the lobby is beautiful and the rooms are great. But the tension and anxiety you feel as you walk through the hallways after getting off the elevator .. it takes away the whole purpose of being relaxed at a hotel. The hallway lights are sensors so they stay off for the most part, and at night it’s the most creepiest experience ever. I would only recommend this place if you enjoy that kind of stuff, otherwise it’s not worth it.

The staff was great. The room was clean and beautiful . Not your ordinary hotel which made our stay that much more special. The English breakfast was wonderful and yummy. The restaurant at Kimpton - the Refuge food was delicious. The Kimoton is close to all your needs whether it’s for food convenient stores or buses and trams. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic one night stay at this hotel as a family of four. A very comfortable room, and brilliant breakfast, but what stood out the most was the staff - everyone we came into contact with was so warm, helpful and friendly. Thank you!

I moved from the excellent nearby Brooklyn Hotel because I wanted to spend a couple of nights in one of Manchester's grandest and most impressive buildings. The lobby isn't large but is beautiful. The hotel itself is a fascinating maze, which lots of strange turns and unexpected interior details. It isn't quite luxurious -- the age of the building precludes that -- but it is quite nice. I very much liked my room with a large (and very nicely appointed) bath and views (a little restricted by smallish windows) on three sides including over the nearby railtracks. Basically, this is a very nice hotel in a very unique setting. Probably not as impressive as it was at its heyday - but fun and comfortable nevertheless.

Property lovely. Room very warm and air con didn’t seem to help. Ordered a chilled bottle of wine to be delivered to the room before arrival…but it wasn’t there! Then got charged to my card afterwards anyway!! :)

My Dad and I went to see Manchester United vs. Liverpool at Old Trafford. The hotel staff was great about showing us how to navigate the tram system so we took the tram from St. Peter’s sq to ManCity to take the stadium tour and to get to Old Trafford for the game. All of about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Lots of great food within walking distance, had a great breakfast at the hotel. They were having train strikes during our trip so the hotel staff got us a driver to get us to the airport. Everyone was so nice and helpful, would definitely recommend coming back.

The building was amazing! lots of history. The Bedroom and facilities were 1st class. Would highly recommend staying here and will stay next time we are in town. Its next door to the Palace theatre and 20mins walk from o2 Apollo.

The hotel is nice with a great restaurant onsite. Other dining options plus a grocery store are an easy walk from the hotel. Concierge and front desk were great. One of the best hotel gyms I’ve experienced. My only 2 issues are that they have company meetings/events which take up areas that can be used by guests specifically the game area. Also noise from the street and the DJ at the restaurant can be loud.

Amazing building with wow-factor rooms!
Booked a fairly last minute king room for Valentine's day. It did not disappoint!! from walking into the amazing lobby to entering our room, there was the wow factor! Our greeting was extremely friendly and welcoming and throughout our stay, we were looked after very well, even with an impromptu small tour of some of the areas of the hotel which we would never have discovered on our own. This was followed up with an information book about the history of the building without even requesting it. The room was amazing! beautifully decorated in keeping with the original look and feel. The bed was comfortable and there was minimal noise able to be heard from the outside. Breakfast was buffet style but still served and the atrium was a beautiful setting to enjoy. overall, I would recommend and just wish we had a bit more time there. Will definitley be back.

Beautiful hotel
Fabulous. Got the cheapest room (lower ground) for a one nights stay. Room was lovely. Wished I could've stayed longer. Bathroom was amazing. Lovely toiletries. Fridge full of water and soft drinks. Nespresso machine and kettle. Even fresh milk, none of that little capfuls of uht rubbish. They had thought of everything. Breakfast was fantastic too. The building is so lovely. Lots of lovely little rooms so can find somewhere to sit with a quiet drink.

Great hotel, fascinating building and very comfortable room. The bar was busy and had a great atmosphere. Perhaps a bit lively for families with young kids but was nice to feel part of the city. Nice touches like ping pong table and fussball to amuse the kids and lots of quiet lunge spaces to relax
