Do not waste your money staying here! There are so many lovely hotels round about that are just as central. We have stayed here before 5 years ago hence booked again. This hotel has went way down hill since then! No pram access so had to bump a twin pram up 15-20 steps. No offer of help from reception - he was actually lying back with his feet up when we went in to ask if other access for us. Was so arrogant and unhelpful. We were staying for 3 nights to be told breakfast was cancelled on our last morning as not enough people staying in the hotel - I explained we had two toddlers and the reason we had booked breakfast was for the easiness with them - wasn’t interested not even an apology. He should not be working in customer service! Clean towels dropped off daily - no dirty ones collected so by the end of the stay we had 16 dirty towels lying in our bedroom. Rooms weren’t cleaned. Bins not emptied daily. The rooftop bar was closed two out of 3 nights we were there. Just overall so so disappointing.

Good location however spending the night in the Presidential Suite i would have expected everything to be perfect No air conditioning as the unit on arrival showed an error message This was obviously not checked thoroughly by house keeping The chap on reception reported it twice starting at 5pm and then later On checking out this was still not fixed and no given apology I expect a follow-up on this from the hotel together with some form of redress as not satisfactory for the room category

Old hotel near the train station, 3 mins walk to Liverpool One shopping arcade. However, there is no TV remote control in the room. Also the AC is not working. No phone connected to the front desk.

The room was a great size for a family. But not very clean, lots of dust, the bath jets were full of limescale that was present when running the bath. The bath tap was loose also

Theme was good. Staff were helpful but hallway decor was a bit tired and grubby. Bedding was clean but some parts of bathroom were broken and some areas could do with a deep clean like corners and air vents.

Fantastic experience at this beautiful Hotel. Stayed in a quarter room which had everything we needed and more. The jacuzzi bath was soo good. Will definitely be returning in the future. Very impressed.

We stayed at 30 James street for a birthday stay. We had stayed previously a few years back and found our stay quite enjoyable at the time so thought we would head back. This time was very different. We had a broken window which meant the sound from the street was quite loud and the room was very cold. The main heating system seemed to be broken and the heater on the wall didn’t do much to warm it up. We were that cold at night that we ended up taking the quilt off the second bed and sleeping with 2 quilts. The bath had hairs in and when we came to shower, we noticed the towels had big brown and yellow unpleasant stains on. When we woke up in the morning, the bathroom smelt unbearable, like backed up drains. We chose not to shower in it because we couldn’t stand being in there with the foul smell. Luckily we were heading home so we could wash at home but if we were staying any additional nights we would have had to ask to change rooms. We barely slept because we were next door to room having a late night party. We couldn’t double lock the door at night because the door was missing this part of the lock, it was just a hole where the twist lock should have been. At breakfast, there was no milk around for tea and cereal. Staff were really helpful when needed, but the standard of the hotel really has gone downhill since our last stay. We definitely won’t be rushing back.

Perfect location. Hotel steeped in history. Wonderful receptionists who were so helpful, witty and friendly . Comfortable rooms with excellent facilities . Very clean .. except a few marks on the carpet. Value for money. Excellent breakfast .

Signed up for £12 each for breakfast good choice though a little limited the hot food was cold. Rain shower over jacuzzi bath sprayed all over the bathroom which soaked the bathroom, there was no shower curtain or screen, the bath had no plug and despite ringing down for one we never recieved one, the plug in the sink also didnt fit the sink. The bed was very uncomfortable with only 2 very thin pillows on the sheets had stains on. The decor was tired and carpets grubby with stains. The hotel bar was never open as they close it after no guests go up after 2hr, we attempted both nights to go up after going out for a meal Overall not sonewhere I would recommend for a relaxing stay and sleep but i suppose if your plan is to go out and get drunk and drop into bed for a few hours before leaving its an ok base due to location.

Run down Rooms and everything in it are old and tired One pillow per person One towel in a room for 4 ppl Hearing/ air con broke They passed 2 small heaters in and when I asked won’t they be dangerous if left on and the woman said probably yes! Having unexpectedly needed to use a mobility scooter for our stay the member of staff on reception when we arrived was extremely helpful. He was polite, courteous and kind, sorry didn’t get his name but he had a northern Irish accent. He changed our room to give us more space without being asked and assisted us in getting the scooter in the disabled entrance and found us a safe place to leave it overnight. He was also kind enough to order us a taxi to the theatre in the evening.

Lovely break in City Centre Liverpool
Read all the terrible reviews about this hotel but have to say I wouldn't agree with any of them. Had a very large room with two king sized beds and a large bathroom. Had a big jacuzzi bath, which was great. Room clean as was rest of hotel. Had full English breakfast in the morning, was also cereals, pastries, tea, juice and coffee. Would return and stay at this hotel again.

Room was gorgeous and staff were extremely helpful. The hot tub bath didn't have a plug and we had to wait over an hour for a spare one to be found. In the evening the electricity tripped after using a hair dryer, all the plug sockets were off for an hour. Again, the staff were extremely helpful and managed to fid the problem.

Unfortunately when we got there we were told there was no heating and an engineer wouldn’t be able to fix it till Monday a small electric heater was provided but wasn’t sufficient.. we were told that they were ringing but we weren’t informed if we had of been we would e cancelled as my partner is not in the best of health , he found it too cold to enjoy our stay

30 James Street Liverpool.
Mix up when checking in. They said we had only booked for 2 adults when we had booked for 4. Tried charging us extra. Showed booking reference which had 4 adults clearly stated and after a little time it was accepted. Bar and breakfast staff were very welcoming. Room was fine but some areas of the hotel needed a little updating.
