The staff were so helpful and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. Centrally located in the area made lots of local places, attractions and events available to us as well as all the things in Duns itself. The White Swan was built mid 1700s, with all the quirkiness of such an old building, so be prepared for some oddities such as the undulating floor near the window and en suite in the room we had. First impression was that the stair carpet was old and dirty looking. The room was small but adequate, however the en-suite bathroom had a broken toilet seat and the door could not be closed. Dinner choices were limited. We chose lasagne but had to return one as it contained clingfilm. It was replaced and the friendly, helpful staff were apologetic, however the meal was of a poor standard and not very tasty. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Can't fault them. The breakfast was lovely. Our room gave us a laugh though. We stayed in the Family room on 2 levels. The floors were tilted in all directions so made the furniture lean in all directions and the drawers opened when you walked passed them. The beds was clean and comfortable but there was water left in the kettle and the spoons were dirty so I'm assuming they hadn't been checked from the last occupants. The lights didn’t work above both the sinks. But the shower and bath were clean and the water pressure was excellent when using the shower. Several of my family members were met with unfriendly banter from the locals who were in the bar watching the Rugby.
